Role Overview
We seek a UX Designer to innovate the future of Amazon Lists. The ideal candidate will aid in user research, generate scenarios, sketches, storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes. This role requires abstract visualization of user experiences, data gathering, simplifying complex use cases, and delivering high-impact designs. A user-focused mindset, exceptional standards, and proficiency in delivering polished designs within an agile environment are essential. The designer combines creativity with analytical precision, driving continuous learning and quality output.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams including design, product, engineering, and research from initial concept through launch, delivering superior quality experiences.
- Establish and articulate user experience visions across multiple platforms such as mobile, voice, and conversational interfaces.
- Leverage customer insights, competitive analysis, behavioral data, and quantitative metrics to pinpoint opportunities, confirm design viability, and refine assumptions continually.
- Develop and maintain scalable design systems with pattern libraries, templates, and component specifications supporting consistency across products.
- Adopt systemic thinking to design coherent UX frameworks while knowing when to innovate unique, product-defining moments.
- Communicate compelling user experience narratives to align partners and leadership effectively using verbal and written channels.
- Foster team excellence through collaboration, constructive feedback, and commitment to professional growth.
Typical Workday
This position involves hands-on design problem-solving and collaboration within the Lists team to tackle challenging UX issues. The designer will build impactful partnerships with fellow designers, product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver compelling global shopping experiences, always prioritizing customer needs.
About the Shopping Design Team
The role situates within Amazon’s Shopping Design team, comprising designers, technologists, program managers, and product leads focused on shaping the entire Amazon shopping journey. Responsible for making discovery, evaluation, and transactions seamless, the team also supports over 300 shopping designers organization-wide with design patterns, tools, research insights, and best practices. Their mission is to create enchanting shopping experiences beloved by millions daily.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years professional design experience.
- Availability of a digital portfolio showcasing design work.
- Proficient in design and prototype tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, or equivalents.
- Understanding of design methodologies.
- Strong visual design capabilities demonstrated through concepts, case studies, mockups, and style guides.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience adapting quickly within an agile development environment.
- Proven collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including close involvement with developers for implementation.
- Knowledge of mobile and web design patterns plus adherence to accessibility standards.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role in Seattle, WA is approximately $81,000 to $141,700 annually. In addition to salary, the package includes sign-on bonuses, restricted stock units (RSUs), and a comprehensive benefits program covering medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, life insurance options, employee assistance programs, mental health support, flexible spending accounts, and parental leave.
