Used Car Buyer - North Region

Role Overview

As a Used Car Buyer reporting to the Group Used Car Manager within the Group Sales Operations Department, your primary objective will be to ensure Porsche Retail Group (PRG) meets its targets for pre-owned vehicles. You will be responsible for optimising PRG's inventory of pre-owned Porsche vehicles by carefully selecting purchases for your assigned Porsche Centre(s), with the aim of balancing stock volume, turnover, model variety, and pricing to avoid averaged units.

This position serves the North of England region.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and acquire an agreed number of Porsche vehicles through trade partners and private sellers.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Used Car Managers at the designated Centre(s) to secure a steady flow of purchase opportunities.
• Conduct accurate evaluations of vehicles considering factors such as mileage, condition, specifications, and market appeal.
• Utilise valuation tools, market insights, and experience to set fair purchase prices that maximise profitability.
• Ensure all purchased vehicles meet PRG's standards for retail suitability.
• Collaborate with the Centre(s) Used Car Manager to understand demand trends and stock requirements.
• Maintain an optimal mix of vehicles for the Porsche Centre(s) in alignment with market demand and sales goals.
• Monitor competitor actions, pricing strategies, and shifts in the market.
• Provide regular updates to Centre leadership on market conditions.
• Identify profitable acquisition opportunities and alternative stock sources.
• Ensure all vehicle purchases comply with PRG policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum age of 21 with at least two years holding a full driving license (insurance requirement).
• Proven background purchasing vehicles for franchised automotive dealers.
• Strong understanding of used car market dynamics, pricing methodologies, and industry trends.
• Ability to accurately assess vehicle value based on mileage, condition, and desirability.
• Effective negotiation skills backed by excellent communication and influencing abilities.
• Commercial acumen with a focus on profitability, margin management, and stock turnover.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience within luxury franchise retail groups.
• Formal qualifications or training in vehicle appraisal, automotive sales, or purchasing (e.g., IMI, NVQ, or manufacturer-led courses).
• Advanced proficiency with valuation platforms such as CAP, Glass's, and Autotrader Retail Check.
• Experience using auction platforms and inventory management systems.
• A proven record of surpassing acquisition goals and generating strong profit margins.

• Basic salary starting at £40,000
