Uranium Fuel Buyer Lead

Overview

This leadership role involves overseeing uranium fuel procurement and contract administration activities for a nuclear energy company. Responsibilities include preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, negotiating contracts, and managing contract execution within established nuclear fuel procurement policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to nuclear fuel procurement policies and procedures to ensure alignment across departments such as Finance, Legal, Procurement, and Supply Chain.
• Assist in preparing and managing nuclear fuel tender documentation, bidder evaluation, contract negotiations, awards, and administration.
• Contribute to the creation and upkeep of a sustainable, rolling uranium fuel procurement plan aligned with power generation forecasts.
• Continuously monitor the uranium fuel market to identify opportunities to diversify the supply portfolio while maintaining cost efficiency and supply security.
• Provide regular reports and develop management presentations regarding procurement planning, costs, and schedules.
• Engage proactively with suppliers to build relationships and stay informed about industry developments.
• Manage nuclear fuel contracts to ensure efficient portfolio operations and timely fuel fabrication and delivery.
• Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to foster productive working relationships.
• Take personal accountability for health, safety, security, and business continuity by adhering to all related company policies and proactively mitigating risks.
• Participate in industry events and training sponsored by organizations such as the Nuclear Energy Institute, World Nuclear Association, and World Nuclear Fuel Market when applicable.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least six years of supervisory experience in nuclear fuel procurement or contract administration, preferably within a nuclear utility or nuclear fuel supplier organization.
• Experience working with nuclear regulatory agencies on contract management matters.
• Over four years of negotiation experience in international nuclear fuel procurement or supply contexts.
• Proficient in financial analysis, business process evaluation, economic forecasting, and modeling related to nuclear fuel contracting.
• International contract management experience in the nuclear fuel sector is required.
