Role overview
This position is based in Mooresville, North Carolina, at Lowe’s headquarters. The corporate office is designed to support collaboration and well-being, with access to spaces and amenities such as walking areas, food and coffee options, fitness facilities, and health check-ups.
The main purpose of this leadership role is to shape university relations and early-career recruiting strategies that help Lowe’s attract exceptional emerging talent. The role is responsible for building and leading relationships with key schools and academic programs, aligning those partnerships with long-term hiring and workforce plans. It also involves creating a recruiting model that develops strong internal talent pipelines and supports future succession planning across functions such as Technology, Finance, Supply Chain, Merchandising, and Stores. Success in the role depends on the ability to influence stakeholders at every level, from hiring managers and HR partners to senior executives, while delivering scalable and operationally efficient hiring outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Design and oversee university recruiting strategies so the organization’s talent requirements are consistently met.
- Apply technology solutions that help increase scale and improve recruiting efficiency.
- Work with corporate and field leaders to create and execute programs that attract and retain early-career talent.
- Manage the school selection process and ensure target-school partnerships are being fully leveraged for long-term value.
- Monitor return on investment across universities, interviews, offers, and acceptances, and use data analysis to identify hiring trends.
- Drive process-improvement efforts that standardize recruiting practices, policies, procedures, tools, and metrics.
- Collaborate with external early-career talent programs to develop non-traditional channels that improve diversity in candidate slates.
- Develop and control the budget for all program-related activities and initiatives.
- Partner with Marketing and Branding teams to keep employer-brand messaging authentic to Lowe’s values and appealing to college students.
- Lead the annual Summer Internship Program, including onboarding, mentorship, meaningful project work, return-offer assessment, and overall intern experience ownership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field, or equivalent experience where education may be substituted.
- At least 7 years of experience in recruitment or a related area.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing a recruiting team.
- At least 2 years of experience running a college recruiting function.
Preferred qualifications
- 10 years of experience leading teams and building university recruiting strategies.
- 5 years of experience managing recruiting programs for a Fortune 100 organization.
- 5 years of experience using analytics to measure recruiting effectiveness.
- 2 years of experience managing budgets.
- 2 years of experience implementing technology solutions that improve efficiency and scale.
