Unit Safety Officer - Kranji

Role overview

In this position, you will support the Commanding Officer in strengthening safety oversight across the unit. The role focuses on carrying out corrective actions, suggesting preventive safety measures, and helping to maintain a workplace culture that aims for zero incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with safety policies and guidelines by regularly checking the ground and observing day-to-day operations.
• Carry out daily workshop safety inspections to verify that the unit is meeting required standards.
• Recommend corrective actions when unsafe trends, conditions, or work methods are identified.
• Support the safety committee by providing coverage for its planned activities.
• Prepare the unit’s annual safety workplan and run the unit’s safety and health conference.
• Verify that personnel have the required qualifications before they are assigned to specialist safety appointments.
• Keep the Unit Safety Policy, Training Safety Regulation, and the Unit Occupational Health and Safety SOPs and instructions up to date.

Challenges in the role

• Building a robust and consistent safety management approach for new servicemen joining the unit every quarter.
• Keeping personal knowledge current on safety rules, regulations, and standards.

Candidate profile

• Background in Workplace Safety & Health or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Familiarity with workshop operating settings and safety procedures.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools.
