Job description
About UNIQLO Australia
UNIQLO, the flagship label of the Fast Retailing Group, operates more than 2,500 stores globally. Australia is an important market for the brand’s growth across Asia and Oceania. Since opening its first Melbourne store in April 2014, the business has expanded to 41 stores, including its e-commerce operation.
To support ongoing expansion in Australia, UNIQLO is looking for recent graduates to join as UNIQLO Management Candidates (UMC).
Why Join the UMC Program
The program is built around merit and capability. High performers can be trusted with larger and more complex store operations within a few years, regardless of age or tenure. It is designed to develop future business leaders by strengthening the skills needed to become an effective Store Manager and, over time, progress into broader leadership responsibilities within UNIQLO Australia and beyond.
Role Overview
As a UMC, you will begin your career in one of UNIQLO’s Australian stores with the objective of becoming a Store Manager within 12 months. Your learning starts with the basics of store execution, including cleaning, folding, and replenishment, so you can fully understand the company’s operational standards and customer-first approach.
You will also receive practical training in retail leadership and store operations, with exposure to team management, scheduling, visual merchandising, and inventory control. Monthly reviews with your manager and the training center will help assess progress, identify development areas, and prepare you for the Store Manager promotion interview after one year.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide the level of customer service expected by UNIQLO while protecting the brand experience in store.
- Lead, encourage, and develop team members to improve performance and retain talent.
- Build and manage rosters that support efficient day-to-day store operations.
- Apply visual merchandising standards in line with brand requirements.
- Track stock levels and look for ways to improve store efficiency and operations.
Training and Career Path
Successful candidates will be developed for progression into a Store Manager role. Over time, there may also be opportunities to move into senior store operations positions or explore other functional career paths within the business.
Requirements
- You should be a recent graduate, with a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field, completed within the last 2 years.
- You must hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or permanent residency in Australia, at the time you apply.
- You need to be available to work across store trading hours on a rotating roster, including evenings and public holidays.
- Strong analytical and logical reasoning ability is preferred.
- You should show commitment to the business and the UNIQLO brand.
- A genuine interest in retail and a long-term desire to build a career in the industry are important, along with the ambition to grow into a global business leader.
- You must be willing to relocate anywhere in Australia at the start of the program, with current store locations in WA, SA, QLD, VIC, NSW, and ACT.
Offer and Benefits
- Permanent full-time employment.
- Annual salary of $90,720, inclusive of superannuation.
- Performance-based bonus paid twice each year and global profit sharing after 1 financial year of service.
- Relocation support may be provided where applicable for moves between Australian states.
- Employee discount of up to 30%.
Application Process
- Step 1: Submit your application online.
- Step 2: Attend a company information session and complete an online competency test.
- Step 3: Participate in the first interview.
- Step 4: Complete a 1.5-day store internship or store assessment.
- Step 5: Attend the final interview.
- Step 6: Undergo a background check.
- Offer: Program commencement in 2027.
