Job description
Role overview
We are looking for a UAT Tester to support a cards and payments project for a leading regional bank in Doha, Qatar. This is a practical, hands-on testing position within a fast-moving delivery team, focused specifically on card products and related banking processes. It is not suited to general QA professionals who have not worked in the cards domain.
The assignment runs for 12 months and may be extended. You must be prepared to relocate and work onsite in Doha for at least the initial 12-month period. Applicants who are already in Qatar and hold a valid work permit are especially encouraged to apply.
What you will do
You will own UAT activities across new card launches, updates to existing card offerings, and changes driven by compliance requirements. Your work will help ensure that customer-facing releases are accurate, compliant, and backed by strong testing evidence before they move to production.
- Translate business requirements into structured UAT scenarios, detailed test cases, and appropriate test data.
- Cover end-to-end card functionality such as card issuance, authorisation, settlement, disputes, and rewards or loyalty features.
- Run integrated testing across the card management platform, switching, scheme connectivity, and partner systems.
- Validate customer journeys across ATM, POS, and e-commerce channels.
- Track defects through logging, triage, follow-up, and closure, and complete regression testing after fixes and release candidates.
- Work closely with business analysts, developers, QA colleagues, and business stakeholders to remove blockers and keep test cycles on schedule.
- Prepare UAT execution reports, requirement traceability matrices, and formal sign-off documentation for release approval.
- Confirm that launch dependencies such as card profiles, limits, KYC and AML flows, settlement, and fee structures are tested and delivered as specified.
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of experience in UAT or QA within banking and payments, with direct delivery on card launches, enhancements, and compliance-related changes.
- Practical UAT exposure across card issuance, transaction processing, settlement, disputes, and rewards or loyalty for credit, debit, and prepaid cards.
- Hands-on use of a Card Management System such as Way4, TSYS PRIME, or a comparable market-standard platform.
- Strong defect-management experience using Azure DevOps and/or JIRA.
- Solid discipline in requirement traceability, UAT reporting, and business sign-off ownership.
- Professional fluency in English.
- Immediate availability and willingness to work onsite in Doha.
- Preferred: Arabic language ability.
- Preferred: Exposure to clearing and settlement, reconciliation, chargebacks, and fraud management.
- Preferred: Familiarity with card-scheme rules and banking compliance requirements, ideally in a GCC setting.
Who this role is for
This role suits someone who can break down a business requirements document and build complete, traceable test coverage from it. You should be comfortable working across the full card lifecycle, understand why scheme rules and compliance matter in card releases, and maintain a disciplined audit trail of testing evidence. You should also be able to keep stakeholders aligned and maintain momentum when deadlines are tight.
Success measures
- Minimal defects reaching production after card releases.
- A smooth and predictable path from UAT start to business approval.
- Clear traceability between business requirements and test cases.
- Fast defect closure and verification.
- Releases that clear UAT on the first attempt with little rework.
- Few customer-impacting issues after go-live.
