Job description
Position Overview
This full-time clerical role supports the Clerk of the District Court office in the 5th Judicial District. The work is centered in Lyon County, Kansas, and involves a range of administrative court functions that help keep daily operations running smoothly.
Compensation
The role is classified as Grade 18 and pays $18.75 per hour.
Core Duties
The selected candidate may handle one specific court-process function or rotate through several clerical tasks. Responsibilities can include filing e-documents, entering data, scheduling hearings, maintaining the court calendar, scanning and indexing court records, and preparing summonses, notices, and subpoenas.
Additional work may involve assisting judges, attorneys, co-workers, and members of the public. The position can also include handling receipts and disbursements, certifying documents, issuing marriage licenses, supporting jury management, and completing other assigned administrative tasks.
Required Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with 6 months of clerical work experience. As an alternative, 30 semester hours of college credit, or an equivalent amount of education, may be used in place of the experience requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
Helpful qualifications include the ability to understand and carry out both spoken and written instructions, work effectively in a busy environment, stay composed under pressure, and bring experience in data entry, customer service, and standard office equipment use.
