Travelling Head Person

Position Overview

Ed Dunlop Racing is seeking a Travelling Head Person to join their team on a full-time basis. This role primarily entails overseeing all aspects of horse care and management while traveling to races domestically and internationally. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing horses, supervising staff on racecourses, saddling horses, and maintaining good relations with owners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the team travelling with the horses to races across the UK and abroad
• Take sole responsibility for the horses’ well-being and the staff on race days
• Perform saddling and general horse care duties
• Manage the transportation of horses, requiring a clean driving licence and ability to drive a two-stall horsebox

Essential Skills and Requirements

• Strong leadership capabilities to effectively manage staff on racecourses
• Valid clean driving licence with skills to operate a two-stall horsebox
• Team player attitude
• Ability to administer basic first aid to horses
• Competent in performing evening stable duties, including pulling manes

A riding ability is considered an advantage but is not mandatory.

Work Schedule and Benefits

• Work six days a week, including alternating weekends (1 in 2 weekends on duty)
