Role Summary

The Transportation Specialist, also referred to as Van Driver, at Mount Sinai Wellness Center plays a crucial part in coordinating and providing transport services for clients to various destinations including bus stations, airports, health appointments, and other facility-requested travel.

Core Responsibilities

  • Organize and schedule transportation for clients to bus stations, airports, and health services appointments, as well as trips requested by the facility or supervisors.
  • Guarantee safe transportation for each client, ensuring they understand the purpose and destination of visits across departments.
  • Manage transportation logistics across all departments effectively.
  • Safely convey clients to and from various appointments and during new admissions.
  • Offer assistance with transportation needs as time and availability permits.
  • Maintain accurate van usage logs along with daily vehicle inspection checklists.
  • Keep the van clean and perform routine preventative maintenance.
  • Run errands as assigned by the facility.
  • Follow all confidentiality policies rigorously to protect client privacy.
  • Enforce safety protocols including seat belt use for all passengers, and adhere to no smoking or eating policies within the facility vehicle.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Prior experience in residential treatment settings or working with individuals with complex conditions.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity, maturity, and composure when interacting with residents to foster adjustment and avoid distress.
  • Ability to utilize professional supervision constructively and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Open and flexible mindset in client interactions, maintaining objectivity and adapting to observed behaviors.
  • Possession of current First Aid and CPR certifications or willingness to complete these within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of a drug screening and criminal background check.
