Role overview

DHL Global Forwarding, Freight is the air, ocean, and road freight arm of DHL Group. In Qatar, the team is hiring a Transportation Specialist to serve as a central contact for assigned customers and ensure smooth handling of shipments from quotation through delivery and invoicing. The role focuses on proactive customer communication, issue resolution, coordination with internal teams and external partners, and support for sales opportunities through cross-selling and upselling.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with assigned customers.
  • Join sales visits when needed and support customer-facing discussions.
  • Work with back-office and call-forwarding teams to accept orders from customers or overseas offices.
  • Keep customers updated on shipment progress, exceptions, and interim actions taken to resolve incidents.
  • Assist with customer implementation by following up on spot quotes and contract finalization.
  • Handle inbound calls to identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling, and pass leads to the sales team.
  • Respond to customer questions, including track-and-trace requests.
  • Review performance and exception reports and share them with customers.
  • Log and manage all customer complaints.
  • Make sure the full order cycle, from rate quotation to delivery and billing, matches customer expectations.
  • Resolve complaints directly where possible or route them to the appropriate function.
  • Collect customer feedback and request follow-up feedback on complaint handling.
  • Coordinate closely with operations and other departments to ensure shipment flow and timely updates.
  • Escalate issues when required.
  • Develop and manage relationships with internal and external service providers to improve efficiency and customer experience.
  • Monitor performance against agreed standards and initiate or support improvement actions when results fall short.
  • Act as the customer's first point of contact for site operation matters and build trust through strong engagement.
  • Support continuous improvement through complaint management using GCCS and performance dialogues.

  • Good organization skills to manage multiple customer demands and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of forwarding/logistics business, DHL Global Forwarding products such as land freight and saloodo, and related business systems.
  • Understanding of customer service processes and systems.
  • Ability to recognize customer needs and respond in a polite, friendly manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfort with telephone and email communication.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Good command of English, both spoken and written.
