Role overview
This opportunity is being promoted for a partner employer, which will handle applications and all subsequent hiring steps. The company is seeking a Transportation Logistics Specialist located in Germany.
You will operate in a high-paced, global technology setting, managing intricate transport activity for valuable IT hardware moving across Europe and other regions. The role centers on coordinating shipments of servers, racks, and data center equipment between suppliers, warehouses, and data center sites. You will support cross-border supply chain movements spanning Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, helping ensure infrastructure stays operational and deployment timelines are met. The position combines day-to-day execution with broader coordination, demanding accuracy, flexibility, and strong collaboration across teams. You will work with engineering, procurement, and data center stakeholders in a technically complex, international environment, contributing to infrastructure that supports the AI economy.
Accountabilities
- Own the full transportation cycle for IT hardware, including servers, racks, and data center assets moving within Europe, arriving from Asia, leaving to other destinations, and flowing through routes connected with Israel.
- Arrange and oversee air and ocean freight, from selecting carriers and making bookings to scheduling and monitoring shipments so deliveries remain secure, on time, and undamaged.
- Coordinate return material authorizations and reverse logistics, working with vendors, carriers, and internal partners to manage product returns and replacements correctly.
- Keep a clear view of every shipment in motion and act quickly to address delays, disruptions, and other transit exceptions across multiple lanes.
- Ensure inventory in transit is recorded accurately, chain-of-custody paperwork is complete, and all shipment data is maintained in logistics systems.
- Handle customs paperwork and clearance activities for international shipments while staying compliant with EU and global trade rules.
- Partner with data center and operations teams to support just-in-time delivery, staging, and hardware deployment.
- Review logistics spend, process freight invoices, manage vendor payments, and look for ways to reduce transportation costs.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to keep logistics execution aligned with deployment schedules and overall business needs.
- Create backup plans and refine routing approaches to improve continuity, efficiency, and resilience in transportation operations.
- Measure and report logistics KPIs, using data to support ongoing process improvement and better operational performance.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in transportation, freight forwarding, logistics coordination, or supply chain operations, preferably in technology, hardware, or data center settings.
- Practical background in European and international freight, including air, ocean, LTL/FTL, and multimodal transport.
- Strong working knowledge of EU customs rules, import/export procedures, and cross-border compliance requirements.
- Experience managing shipments of high-value or sensitive hardware such as servers, racks, or other IT infrastructure equipment.
- Exposure to return logistics and RMA processes.
- Hands-on use of logistics tools such as TMS platforms, Jira, or comparable shipment tracking and documentation systems.
- Excellent planning skills with a sharp eye for detail and accuracy in records and execution.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities in international, cross-functional environments.
- Capability to work independently, set priorities effectively, and perform well in a fast-moving remote-friendly setup.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; additional European language skills are an advantage.
- Must be based in Europe and eligible to work in the EU; familiarity with logistics involving Asia, especially Taiwan, and Israel is a plus.
Benefits
- Compensation that is competitive and aligned with experience and market standards.
- Chance to contribute to large-scale infrastructure initiatives supporting the global AI ecosystem.
- A flexible, remote-friendly work setup with substantial autonomy and ownership.
- Opportunities for professional growth and learning in a fast-changing technical field.
- Exposure to international supply chains across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
- A collaborative, high-performance culture focused on trust, accountability, and innovation.
- Hands-on experience with advanced technologies and complex logistics systems at scale.
- An inclusive and diverse workplace with equal opportunity principles.
