Job description

Role overview

This position is based at the E3 Warehouse in South Elmsall and sits within Transport Operations. It offers a pay rate of £17.02 per hour with a Monday to Friday schedule from 08:00 to 16:30. In this role, you will act as a visible safety lead on site, helping to keep people safe while supporting smooth day-to-day operations. The job centres on maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards as an active part of how the team works, not just a compliance task.

You will work closely with transport managers and colleagues across the NDL network, spotting risks early, advising on safety matters, and supporting the response to incidents. Full training will be provided on the company’s internal health and safety systems, along with continued support to build your capability in a busy logistics setting.

Key duties

  • Perform routine safety checks and audits across work areas and equipment to uncover hazards and confirm standards are being met.
  • Support and help lead investigations into vehicle collisions and workplace injuries, then use findings and data to suggest practical preventative actions.
  • Run safety training sessions and workshops that encourage good practice and keep safety awareness high.
  • Handle important safety records such as PUWER assessments and Employee Liability Claims, making sure documents are accurate and ready for audit.
  • Monitor the supply and correct use of PPE so teams remain properly protected.
  • Work with senior leaders to share feedback on accident reports and provide guidance on more complex health and safety issues.

What you will need

The role suits someone with prior administrative experience, ideally from a health and safety, transport, or facilities background. You should communicate confidently with people at all levels, stay organised, and pay close attention to detail when handling data and preparing reports in Google Suite.

A flexible and proactive approach is important, including the confidence to work independently and travel across the NDL network when required. You’ll need to remain calm, professional, and focused during busy periods, especially when dealing with incident investigations. A full UK driving licence is required, and a solid understanding of health and safety regulations is essential. A NEBOSH qualification or familiarity with Smith Systems would be an advantage.
