About the Role

The Translations Officer will deliver precise, prompt, and contextually accurate verbal and written translation services between Arabic and English. This position involves translating official communications, reports, forms, technical, aviation, legal, and commercial documents, ensuring compliance with approved terminology, templates, and communication standards. The role supports management, departments, and stakeholders with daily high-quality language services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate diverse official documents including correspondence, reports, policies, technical, and aviation materials between Arabic and English, maintaining accuracy and contextual relevance.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties to clarify ambiguous source texts, terms, or contexts before finalizing translations.
  • Exercise professional judgment when handling sensitive, technical, or executive materials to convey intended meaning faithfully.
  • Conduct research on technical, legal, aviation, government, or business terminology to ensure precise and consistent translation.
  • Maintain and apply bilingual terminology glossaries, style guides, and references to ensure consistency and legal compliance.
  • Proofread, review, edit, format, and validate translations, including work by junior staff or external vendors, ensuring linguistic accuracy and adherence to corporate standards.
  • Deliver finalized translations that are complete, appropriately formatted, and suitable for official distribution.
  • Provide verbal interpretation support during meetings, conferences, and official events when needed to facilitate communication.
  • Coordinate with document control teams to ensure proper classification, version control, filing, and retrieval of translated materials per information governance policies.
  • Manage translation requests, prioritize workloads, monitor turnaround times, maintain logs, and support service-level reporting.
  • Utilize computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, translation memories, SharePoint, and document management systems to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Assist in translation-related digital initiatives, identifying repetitive tasks and helping implement workflow improvements.
  • Identify and address recurring translation issues or bottlenecks, recommending practical steps for process enhancements.
  • Review translations by junior personnel or external providers to maintain quality and compliance.
  • Guide and train junior or administrative staff on approved translation protocols, terminology, and document handling.
  • Participate in quality checks, audits, and continuous improvement activities related to translation output.
  • Uphold confidentiality, integrity, and security when managing sensitive or classified information.
  • Maintain professionalism and discretion while managing translation duties and communications to uphold organizational reputation.
  • Adapt and provide support during urgent or high-volume translation demands to ensure service continuity.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Translation, Linguistics, English & Arabic Literature, or a related field.
  • At least 4-5 years of professional experience in translation, interpretation, or bilingual communication within corporate or government environments.
  • Proven expertise translating commercial, legal, technical, and business documents bidirectionally between Arabic and English.
  • Previous roles such as Translation Administrator, Coordinator, or Officer preferred.
  • Excellent formal written and verbal command of Arabic and English Business Language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in legal, regulatory, aviation, infrastructure, engineering, construction, government, or other regulated sectors.
  • Professional translation certifications (e.g., Chartered Institute of Linguists membership, Diploma in Translation) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Familiarity with aviation terminology and formal government/business correspondence.
