Position Overview
The Kansas Office of Judicial Administration is hiring a Transcriptionist for the 8th Judicial District in Dickinson County, Kansas. This is a Grade 23 position with an hourly pay rate of $21.20, increasing to $23.39 per hour after one year of successful service.

Role Summary
This position focuses on preparing accurate written transcripts of court proceedings from audio sources, handling transcript-related requests, and supporting records management tasks. The role also includes additional administrative work as assigned by the Court Administrator.
Key Duties
- Prepare precise transcripts of judicial proceedings using tape and digital recordings.
- Review and certify transcripts to confirm they are accurate and complete.
- Handle transcript requests and respond to requestors in writing.
- Organize and maintain filing and record systems for transcript storage and retrieval.
- Carry out administrative assignments as directed by the Court Administrator.
Education and Experience Needed
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent plus at least one year of experience in a court-related setting. Prior work as a typist for one to two years is preferred, especially with familiarity in transcript formatting and preparation standards. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF software is required.
Skills and Abilities
Successful candidates must be able to follow both spoken and written directions, and they should be capable of building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues.
Compensation
This role is paid hourly. Starting pay is $21.20 per hour, with a step increase to $23.39 per hour after one year of successful employment.
