Position Overview

We seek enthusiastic science graduates interested in starting a meaningful career in healthcare. As a Trainee Clinical Physiologist in the Respiratory and Sleep Physiology team within the North Sector, you will develop specialist diagnostic skills and work toward professional qualifications supported by experienced colleagues. This role offers hands-on exposure to a broad spectrum of respiratory and sleep investigations, contributing directly to patient care and clinical service improvement initiatives.

Key Duties

• Receive training to conduct diverse respiratory and sleep diagnostic tests under supervision.
• Acquire skills to analyze, interpret, and draft precise respiratory and sleep study reports.
• Progress toward achieving the ARTP Practitioner Certificate and relevant professional competencies.
• Assist in the delivery and troubleshooting of sleep treatment services, including CPAP therapy.
• Participate in research, service development, and quality improvement projects.
• Maintain quality control of equipment, including calibration, safety, and infection prevention.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care.

Qualifications and Skills

• Holder of a BSc in Clinical Physiology or related biological science degree.
• Keen interest in respiratory physiology, sleep medicine, and diagnostic healthcare services.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
• Strong communication skills capable of clearly explaining procedures to varied patient populations.
• Accuracy and sustained focus during clinical investigations.
• Effective organizational and time-management abilities to manage competing priorities.
• Previous healthcare experience is an advantage; complete training provided.

Employment Details

• Permanent full-time role based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
• Work schedule Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30.
