This is an on-site Low-speed Traffic Management Operative position based in Nuneaton, England, United Kingdom. What the role involves

You will be part of a team that keeps traffic moving safely around worksites. The position includes handling traffic counts, keeping temporary traffic lights operating properly, deploying and removing traffic management equipment, and supporting new starters through mentoring.

  • Collect traffic count information and coordinate with clients and subcontractors to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Look after temporary traffic lights to help maintain safe and efficient vehicle flow.
  • Install, maintain, and remove temporary traffic management equipment such as cones, signs, frames, sandbags, and related items.
  • Support and coach trainee colleagues as they develop their skills.

Working pattern

Typical weekly hours are 40 to 48. Work is generally carried out during the day, but evening, night, and weekend shifts may also be required. During busy periods, you may need to work away from home. The role also includes participation in an on-call rota, especially where a company van is available.

Requirements

To be considered for the position, you need the relevant traffic management qualification and a driving licence that meets the stated standard. You must also be ready to complete screening and work flexibly when required.

  • Minimum qualification of M1/M2; SLG Unit 2 may also be accepted.
  • Working knowledge of Chapter 8 rules and guidance.
  • Full driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Any driving ban must have ended at least 5 years ago.
  • Must pass a drug and alcohol screening test.
  • A positive, practical, can-do attitude.
  • Strong adaptability, flexibility, and careful attention to detail.
  • Availability for weekends, nights, and working away when needed.
  • Traffic management training is tied to signing a training agreement.
