Job description

Role summary

We are looking for a qualified Traffic Management Operative to work in Belfast, supporting the safe and efficient movement of vehicles on highways and construction sites. This is a hands-on role within a fast-moving team where your contribution will directly support road safety and smooth site operations.

Eligibility and licence requirements

To be considered, you must hold a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points, and it must have been held for more than 10 months. You also need your own transport, eligibility to work in the UK, and the ability to live within an hour’s drive of the depot.

Working pattern

The role comes with a guaranteed 37.5 hours per week. Shift cover includes days, evenings, nights and weekends, with overtime available when needed. You will also be expected to take part in the on-call rota. The shift pattern is 12 on and 2 off, with every other weekend off.

What the role involves

  • Installing and maintaining traffic management arrangements
  • Guiding traffic safely during roadworks, public events and emergency situations
  • Working closely with team members and clients to keep operations running smoothly
  • Supporting a people-focused culture and contributing to an ongoing workplace culture programme

Required qualifications

You must hold valid traffic management qualifications, such as Lantra 12D M1/M2 or Unit 2, as these are essential for the position.

Benefits

  • Guaranteed hours and overtime opportunities, offering strong job stability
  • Enhanced pay for unsociable hours: nights are paid at 1 and 1/3, while Saturdays and Sundays are paid at 1 and 1/2
  • 24 days of annual leave plus 5 Bank Holidays
  • Life assurance, along with access to 24/7 GP appointments, free physiotherapy, and counselling for you and your family
  • Free training is provided, with a cost-recovery agreement if employment ends within 24 months

About the employer

The business operates across the UK and Ireland, delivering a wide range of traffic management and related services. It combines depots, equipment, in-house operatives and specialist design capability to respond quickly and deliver cost-effective, compliant solutions. Its design and build expertise includes early contractor involvement, support for barrier systems and traffic management design, and value engineering with client design teams.

Inclusion statement

Applications are encouraged from women, veterans and people with disabilities. Candidates who meet the core criteria are guaranteed an interview. The employer is committed to inclusive hiring, equal opportunity, and fair treatment for all. Reasonable adjustments can be requested during recruitment if needed.

Pre-employment checks

Any offer will depend on successful drug and alcohol screening, and on any required medical assessments. These checks are used to help maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
