Traffic Inspector - Roads and Highway

Role overview

This position is for a Traffic Inspector to oversee traffic control activities on active roadworks in Riyadh. The job focuses on checking traffic diversion setups, confirming that approved traffic management plans are followed, observing on-site traffic movement, and working with contractors and public authorities to keep operations safe and compliant.

Key duties

• Check traffic diversions on site and confirm they match the approved Traffic Management Plans (TMPs).
• Track real-time traffic conditions and suggest corrective steps to maintain safe and smooth movement.
• Make sure signs, barriers, cones, delineators, and lighting are installed correctly and kept in good condition.
• Inspect sites to spot hazards and recommend measures for safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
• Work with contractors, site engineers, and government authorities on diversion arrangements.
• Verify adherence to local traffic laws and safety requirements.
• Document any non-compliance issues and monitor corrective actions until completed.
• Produce daily inspection reports and keep records accurate and up to date.

Candidate profile

• A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or a related discipline is required.
• At least 7 years of practical site experience in traffic inspection or traffic diversions on road construction projects is expected.
• Strong understanding of traffic control devices, road safety practices, and diversion implementation is necessary.
• Experience operating in live traffic environments and busy construction sites is important.
• The ability to read, interpret, and enforce Traffic Management Plans is needed.
• Good communication and coordination skills are essential.
• Knowledge of Saudi traffic regulations and standards is required.
