Overview

The Traditional Trade Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing sales operations within the traditional trade segment, including grocery stores, convenience outlets, and independent retailers. This position aims to meet sales targets, optimize product presence and visibility, lead a sales team, and cultivate lasting relationships with customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
  • Track sales progress and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Promote volume growth, wider distribution, and increased market share.
  • Ensure the correct implementation of sales plans and promotional campaigns.
  • Lead, mentor, and encourage sales reps and merchandisers where applicable.
  • Spend approximately 70% of working hours conducting field visits to supervise team performance.
  • Set performance targets for team members and carry out regular evaluations.
  • Recognize training needs and deliver guidance on the job.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with key retail customers.
  • Handle trade negotiations including promotions and placement opportunities.
  • Resolve client concerns to maintain high satisfaction levels.
  • Identify new business avenues within assigned territories.
  • Plan routes and territory coverage efficiently.
  • Monitor the productivity of outlets and frequency of customer visits.
  • Keep customer information and route plans up to date.
  • Assure product availability and proper display as per company criteria.
  • Check adherence to merchandising standards and store planograms.
  • Oversee the execution of trade promotions and in-store marketing activities.
  • Keep track of competitor pricing, promotions, and activities.
  • Develop sales reports and analyze market performance.
  • Track key indicators such as sales volume, distribution metrics, productivity, and collections.
  • Provide market insights and strategic recommendations to management.
  • Assist in sales forecasting and demand planning efforts.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Between 3 to 5 years of experience in FMCG sales, including 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • In-depth understanding of traditional trade channels and market routing operations.
  • Strong leadership abilities combined with excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and tools used for sales reporting.
