Trade Operator (Bulk) - Trading House

About the Role

An established independent trading business with a deep portfolio across metals and new energy goods is looking for a Trade Operator to support its physical dry bulk activities. The firm works with commodities such as coal, iron ore, copper concentrate, and other metals.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Operations, this position focuses on running the full trade operations cycle for dry bulk cargoes. The role ensures contractual obligations are carried out correctly, operational risks are kept under control, and shipments are managed smoothly from contract to settlement.

Key Scope

The job covers contract checking, vessel and shipment coordination, banking and letter of credit documentation, logistics follow-through, invoice handling, laytime and demurrage/dispatch calculations, receivables and payables monitoring, and support for month-end close and cash flow tracking.

Requirements

The successful candidate should have a degree in business or a closely related field, along with 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in physical bulk trading operations within a commodities trading environment. Strong knowledge of marine logistics, incoterms, laytime/demurrage, and trade documentation, including Letters of Credit, is essential.

Experience in managing operational exposure, handling several cargoes at the same time, and working effectively across trading, shipping, and finance teams is also required.
