Role Overview
Middle Smithfield Township in Pennsylvania is hiring a full-time Township Manager for a Second Class Township. This position functions as the Township’s chief administrative officer and reports directly to the Board of Supervisors.
Compensation
The pay is open and will be based on the selected candidate’s background, experience, and qualifications.
Key Duties
The Township Manager will oversee the Township’s daily operations, put Board decisions into action, manage departments and personnel, administer the budget, and support long-term planning efforts. Required Background
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, political science, or a closely related discipline. A master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should also bring at least 3–5 years of steadily increasing municipal management responsibility. Experience with collective bargaining is an added advantage.
Core Competencies
The role calls for strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities, along with the capacity to partner effectively with elected officials, employees, and community members. Proficiency is needed in financial management, municipal budgeting, municipal operations, personnel administration, and grant development and administration.
