Role overview

As a Township Maintenance Officer, you will help create clean, well-maintained environments that residents and visitors can enjoy with pride. The work is varied, outdoors-based, and well suited to someone who enjoys visible results from everyday effort.

Full-time position with a salary range of $70,022 to $75,467 plus superannuation.

What you will do

  • Keep township areas and open spaces safe, tidy, and visually well maintained for the community.
  • Carry out small-scale construction and repair work, including concreting, welding, woodworking, sign repairs, and fixing playground components.
  • Inspect and maintain assets such as playgrounds, park furniture, bridges, and other public spaces on a routine basis.
  • Complete general upkeep tasks such as picking up litter, cleaning areas, removing graffiti, and other manual labour duties.
  • Use and look after a range of plant and equipment to support maintenance and construction work.

What you will bring

  • Previous experience in maintenance, construction, or another outdoor hands-on role.
  • Practical ability in general repairs, minor building work, and the use of hand and power tools.
  • Confidence operating plant and machinery such as tractors, skid steers, hot washers, and similar equipment.
  • A strong understanding of workplace safety and consistent use of safe work methods.
  • The physical capacity to complete manual work, including lifting, carrying, digging, and raking.
  • Ability to assess assets, identify maintenance issues, and respond appropriately across a wide range of sites.
  • A dependable, proactive approach with solid teamwork and time management skills.

Why join Cardinia Shire Council

  • Work on initiatives that are practical, innovative, and make a visible contribution to the community.
  • Access professional growth opportunities, including training, education, and leadership development.
  • Be part of an organisation committed to sustainability and reducing its environmental footprint.
  • Benefit from a workplace that supports balance and promotes physical and mental wellbeing.

How to apply

  • Submit the online application with your resume and a short cover letter explaining your suitability for the position.
  • Applications close on 7 July 2026.
