About the Position
We are inviting a Town Planner to join our dynamic Kings Hill office located in Kent, known for its collaborative interdisciplinary approach combining Town Planning, Research, Development Economics, and Ecology.
Role Overview
The team primarily handles residential-led projects across Southeast England, encompassing new neighbourhoods, garden villages, regeneration initiatives, mixed-use developments, industrial/logistics sites, commercial ventures, and retirement housing. These projects vary widely in size, usage, and complexity. Responsibilities include managing all types of planning submissions and Local Plan promotions, overseeing applications, appeals, and inquiries. Strong communication skills are essential to foster client relationships and to assist in business development and lead generation.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion large-scale residential, mixed-use, and commercial projects (both Brownfield and Greenfield) through the Local Development Framework, coordinating interdisciplinary teams for planning submissions.
- Manage and coordinate project teams, handling often complex schemes to successful outcomes.
- Conduct thorough research and site appraisals for client projects.
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate various planning and economic applications.
- Draft policy representations and contribute to planning appeals.
- Build and maintain robust client relationships.
Candidate Profile
- Membership or ongoing progress towards MRTPI qualification.
- Substantial planning experience at planner level, preferably from consultancy or private sectors, with public sector experience also considered.
- Excellent project management capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Possession of a full UK driving licence and access to a car.
