Role Overview

Working under the supervision of the School Director and classroom leaders such as the Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant supports everyday classroom activities and helps carry out Cadence Education’s programs. This position is focused on maintaining a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment tailored to children's physical, social, emotional, developmental, and behavioral development, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), all while ensuring compliance with safety and licensing standards.

Key Duties

  • Welcome children and their families daily to nurture professional and warm relationships.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing individual developmental, behavioral, cultural, and learning demands, including adherence to IEPs and behavioral support directives.
  • Support staff in planning and delivering age-appropriate curriculum and Cadence’s signature educational programs.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with families, colleagues, and leadership using approved communication tools.
  • Follow the organization’s safety and supervision guidelines, including recording and reporting any accidents or incidents as specified.
  • Help document and manage instances of escalated child behavior in line with Cadence protocols.
  • Comply fully with company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Participate in mandated meetings, training sessions, and career development activities, which may occur beyond usual work hours.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Consistent adherence to safety practices like name-to-face accountability, handling allergies, safe bottle feeding, and safe sleep.
  • Collaborative team player capable of working within a classroom setting.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory if state licensing is satisfied.
  • Prior experience in early childhood or classroom environments is preferred but not required.
  • Must satisfy all state-required licensing standards for a Teacher Assistant in childcare centers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary background checks and medical clearance.
  • CDA credential is preferred but not compulsory if state criteria are met.

Work Schedule and Additional Details

  • Flexible availability is critical as working hours can vary based on enrollment numbers, staff ratios, and operational demands.
  • Shift lengths are not guaranteed to be eight hours and start/end times may fluctuate daily.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly wage typically ranges from $15 to $16.
  • Full-time assistants enjoy competitive pay plus on-demand pay options via UKG Wallet, enabling immediate access to earnings.
  • Employees benefit from a 50% discount on childcare tuition, 401(k) plan with employer match, and comprehensive insurance plans including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and pet insurance.
  • Paid time off accrues with tenure, paid holidays, and company-paid life insurance provide additional security.
  • Professional growth opportunities include paid CDA certification, tuition reimbursement, and development programs.
  • Supportive work environment promoting work-life balance within a nationally recognized early childhood education leader operating 340+ schools across 30 states for over 30 years.
