About the Role

The Violent Actors Team, part of Threat Operations within Trust & Safety, focuses on detecting and disrupting violent extremist and threat actor networks.

This position involves leading in-depth investigations, devising new detection methods, and enforcing strategies to address present and emerging dangers on the platform. You'll work alongside policy, engineering, and AI teams, handling cross-functional projects and ensuring operational readiness, reporting directly to the Senior Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed investigations into extremist and threatening communities, continuously refining detection and intervention approaches.
• Drive project execution including coordination with internal teams, documentation of behavioral patterns, and finding scalable mitigation solutions.
• Utilize investigative insights to guide threat prioritization and detection efforts.
• Detect emerging harmful behaviors and identify areas needing improvement in policy, detection, or enforcement.
• Collaborate with program managers to enhance team readiness and operational efficiency.
• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting colleagues and company leadership.

Qualifications

• At least five years in threat intelligence, investigations, or incident management, with proven leadership of complex multi-party cases.
• Expertise within at least one extremist or violent threat ecosystem, alongside adaptability to acquire knowledge across other harm sectors.
• Proven capability to define project scope and deliver results in fast-changing, ambiguous environments with little supervision.
• Familiarity with data analysis, case management, and machine learning tools relevant to network investigations and detection.
• Excellent communication skills for simplifying intricate sensitive information to diverse audiences and experience in producing intelligence and collaborating with external entities.
• Strong teamwork and coordination skills across multiple teams and time zones.

Compensation and Culture

The US base salary ranges from $132,000 to $148,500 annually, excluding equity and benefits. Compensation depends on role, level, skills, experience, and education. Discord champions inclusivity with reasonable accommodations during hiring to ensure success.
