Job description

About the role

This position is based at Tesco in Cardiff, Wales, and follows an onsite working pattern. The role is centered on supporting customers through accurate, well-organized store operations and picking activities.

Working hours and availability

We’re looking for availability during these windows:

  • Sunday: 16:00 to 23:15
  • Monday: 18:00 to 23:15
  • Wednesday: 18:00 to 23:15
  • Saturday: 17:00 to 23:15

Contracted hours are scheduled within the availability window, and shifts are shared with 3 weeks’ notice. Tesco is open to candidates whose availability is close to, though not exactly the same as, the times listed.

The role is varied, hands-on, and focused on serving customers well every day. It offers the chance to work with a diverse team, gain experience, and build either stability, flexibility, or progression depending on what you’re looking for.

Pay and hours

Pay starts at £13.28 per hour, rising to £14.55 per hour in stores within the M25. Some locations may also qualify for extra payments. New starters are normally offered at least 16 guaranteed hours per week, though there are also opportunities for a minimum of 12 hours per week.

Key duties

You’ll help create a smooth customer shopping experience by keeping the store and stock areas in good order, supporting replenishment, and ensuring online orders are picked accurately and to a high standard.

  • Making sure trays used for picking are clean and taken out of use when dirty.
  • Restocking products that are most important to customers first when gaps appear.
  • Knowing where products have moved after merchandising changes.
  • Pulling stock forward and clearing cardboard so items are easy to see.
  • Keeping warehouse space orderly and returning everything to its proper location.
  • Completing stock processes accurately and on time.
  • Picking online orders carefully, with strong quality and freshness, and handling substitutions when needed.
  • Ensuring selected items meet the highest quality standards and have the best possible date for fresh products.
