Role overview
This position is for a Territory Manager handling aftermarket lubricant sales across the Mumbai/Thane region. The role centers on driving volume growth, expanding distribution, and strengthening market presence within the assigned territory.
Core accountabilities
- Deliver sales volume and support gross margin objectives for the territory.
- Oversee revenue, trade accounts receivable, and collection discipline.
- Manage distributor relationships and widen the secondary dealer network across the area.
- Apply sales and pricing policies consistently throughout the sales region.
- Track distributor sales team performance to ensure budgeted targets are achieved.
- Develop and execute sales plans based on broader regional direction.
- Drive volume growth and distribution reach within the assigned territory.
- Ensure receivables are collected in line with credit policy.
- Set primary network targets with attention to growth, outflow, and market potential.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers across the territory.
- Plan and run demand-generation initiatives in the market.
- Organize dealer and mechanic meetings as part of customer engagement programs.
- Allocate advertising and promotion budgets effectively and use them efficiently.
- Implement centrally designed strategies, promotions, and campaigns at the local level.
- Gather market intelligence on competitors and overall business conditions.
- Follow the company’s health and safety policy in all relevant activities.
- Plan, monitor, and control expenses through effective tracking systems.
- Map and analyze the secondary network and take action to preserve stability and growth.
- Support demand generation activities on an ongoing basis.
Requirements
- A graduate degree is preferred, ideally in Mechanical, Chemical, or Automobile Engineering, or a diploma/degree in Marketing or Business Management.
- 6 to 8 years of sales experience is required.
- At least 2 years of that experience should be in a role with similar scope and responsibility.
- Strong team management capability is needed.
- Ability to lead and coordinate a team effectively is essential.
