Role overview
This position focuses on ensuring reliable maintenance operations for mechanical and utility systems in a regulated manufacturing environment. The role combines preventive maintenance, breakdown support, automation oversight, compliance documentation, and coordination with internal teams to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
Responsibilities
- Identify safety risks during critical maintenance work and ensure proper controls through permits, lockout/tagout practices, job safety analysis, and full SH&E compliance.
- Plan and track predictive, preventive, and shutdown maintenance while keeping utility areas orderly and ensuring essential spare parts are available with controlled usage.
- Diagnose faults and carry out breakdown repairs on electrical and mechanical assets such as transformers, generators, substations, and control systems, aiming for fast restoration and minimal disruption.
- Manage automation solutions including HMI and PLC systems, maintain regular backups, and look for new automation opportunities that improve reliability.
- Execute equipment qualification and validation tasks, prepare records aligned to ISO, cGMP, and statutory needs, and maintain master maintenance schedules in SAP.
- Lead corrective actions using root cause analysis, Why-Why methods, and incident reviews for major breakdowns, while helping achieve MTTR and MTBF targets.
- Train and evaluate team members on basic maintenance methods, correct tool usage, and installation practices to strengthen technical capability and safe working methods.
- Support small modification projects, coordinate with plant stakeholders, raise purchase requests, inspect incoming spares, and contribute to cost estimates and budget planning.
Requirements
- A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, is required.
- Candidates should have 3+ or 6+ years of relevant work experience.
- Hands-on exposure to maintaining and troubleshooting equipment such as mixers, dryers, reactors, HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and valves is preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, life sciences, or FMCG environments is preferred.
- Prior involvement in equipment qualification, validation, root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, and corrective action documentation is desired.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, compressed air, water systems, and utility optimization in manufacturing settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with mechanical servicing practices such as alignment, lubrication, and calibration is preferred.
- Strong focus on safety, operational discipline, and continuous improvement is expected.
