Job description

Overview

This role involves frontline engagement as part of West Northamptonshire Council's Homelessness and Housing Solutions Team. The officer will manage responsibility for individuals in temporary accommodation, ensuring placements are safe, well-maintained, and effectively managed to minimize costs. The position requires dealing with diverse and complex client needs in a dynamic environment, providing support on housing benefits, housing register applications, and collaborating with partners to enhance client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage arrivals and departures, rent accounting, and daily oversight of occupants in both interim and temporary housing.
  • Maintain and monitor accommodation quality to guarantee cleanliness, safety, and good repair standards.
  • Provide customer support related to housing benefits, housing register applications, and other life aspects during accommodation stays.
  • Work closely with internal services and external partners to improve client circumstances and contribute positively to their lives.

Candidate Profile

  • At least two years of experience in customer-facing roles with ability to perform in fast-paced settings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills combined with negotiation and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and capable of prioritizing workload and making sound decisions.
  • Valid driving licence and access to a car are mandatory.

Additional Information

The position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check due to work involving vulnerable adults and children. The council prioritizes safeguarding and welfare. Previous applicants are not encouraged to reapply.
