Job Overview

The Rotating Equipment Technician plays a vital role in maintaining and servicing rotating machinery, focusing primarily on centrifugal pumps. This role encompasses both workshop and field operations, involving technical duties such as dismantling, cleaning, inspecting, measuring, assembling, testing, installing, and commissioning equipment.

Key Duties

  • Perform and aid in maintenance tasks on rotating equipment, especially centrifugal pumps, including dismantling, cleaning, assembling, testing, and installation support.
  • Prepare necessary equipment, tools, and spare parts to facilitate maintenance and repairs efficiently.
  • Assist with installation, removal, and replacement activities for centrifugal pumps and related equipment on client sites.
  • Support alignment procedures using dial indicators and laser tools under supervision.
  • Maintain detailed records such as service logs, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies, OEM guidelines, quality standards, and health, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of tools and instruments.
  • Keep the work area safe, clean, and organized, both in the workshop and onsite.
  • Collaborate closely with senior technicians and engineers to ensure reliable and quality maintenance services while continuously enhancing technical expertise.

QHSE Responsibilities

  • Promote and ensure team compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental standards and policies.
  • Demonstrate leadership in fostering a safety-focused culture and actively engage in QHSE meetings, relaying vital safety information.
  • Promptly address unsafe or hazardous conditions and escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
  • Respond timely to feedback from QHSE personnel and ensure all new team members complete necessary safety inductions before commencing work.
  • Regularly review emergency readiness, including PPE and spill kit accessibility and usage.
  • Monitor and support safety compliance within the team, providing guidance where necessary, especially to newer staff members.
  • Encourage active participation in safety programs and facilitate staff involvement in safety improvements.

Education & Certifications

  • Diploma, Technical Certificate, or ITI qualification in Mechanical or closely related engineering fields.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of centrifugal pump functions and maintenance fundamentals.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, and lubrication systems.
  • Capability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings as well as technical manuals.
  • Experience using precise measuring tools like vernier calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Foundational knowledge of shaft alignment and balancing concepts for rotating equipment.
  • Competence in workshop tools usage and safe maintenance techniques.
  • Skillful dismantling, cleaning, inspecting, and reassembling equipment per OEM and standard procedures.
  • Ability to select and use appropriate tools, instruments, and consumables effectively during maintenance.
  • Proficiency in conducting inspections, functional testing, and accurately recording results.
  • Experienced in preparing maintenance checklists, service reports, and job-related documentation.
  • Awareness of LOTO procedures, permit-to-work systems, and site safety regulations.
  • Proper handling and care of equipment components and spare parts to maintain functionality.
  • Capability to identify and report equipment issues and safety hazards to supervisors.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and eagerness to learn from senior team members.
  • Dedication to maintaining a safe, orderly environment in both workshop and field contexts.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience working with centrifugal pumps (API610), including overhauls and maintenance of OH, BB, and vertical pumps, as well as other rotating equipment.
