About the Role
The School of Business at Maynooth University is inviting applications for a Technical Research Assistant to join the International Research on Energy Systems Integration, Education & Environment for Sustainability and Innovation Centre (IRESI). This role involves working on the Research Ireland-funded RENEW project, dedicated to advancing sustainable energy systems aimed at fostering a cleaner, greener future.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist a multidisciplinary technical team in developing, validating, and refining data-driven models related to energy systems.
- Handle and analyze large and complex datasets associated with energy research.
- Collaborate in preparing datasets for analysis and supporting computational workflows integral to the RENEW project.
- Engage in building and testing predictive models to meet analytical and computational needs.
- Work closely with experienced team members to enhance research outputs and methodologies.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced technical research environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Interest or background in data modelling, applied statistics, or research software development is advantageous.

Terms and Conditions
The salary scales for 2026 are as follows:
- Research Assistant Level I: 34,130 to 38,102 per annum (6 points scale)
- Research Assistant Level II: 39,061 per annum (1 point)
