Role Overview
The team is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Nutritionist / Sports Dietitian to oversee player nutrition and performance fueling strategies. The Nutritionist plays a vital role in supporting athletic excellence by creating personalized nutrition plans, collaborating with coaches and trainers, and ensuring that meals meet elite-performance standards. The position reports to the Director of Performance, Head Coach, and General Manager, and involves direct interaction with athletes, medical staff, and culinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze the specific nutritional needs of players based on their health, physical demands, and personal goals.
- Design and implement individualized meal plans and supplement protocols for athletes.
- Guide players on optimal hydration, recovery routines, and tailoring diet for both in-season and off-season requirements.
- Coordinate meal services with chefs and outside vendors to ensure all provided food supports high performance.
- Manage snacks, supplements, and hydration stations within locker and training rooms.
- Deliver one-on-one consultations as well as group seminars to educate players on nutrition best practices.
- Present complex nutrition science in clear, actionable ways to athletes and staff.
- Work collaboratively with performance, training, and medical staff to ensure comprehensive player care.
- Assist in dietary management of athletes with allergies, specific health conditions, or during injury recovery.
- Design nutrition plans for injured players returning to play.
- Monitor and track athletes’ body composition and nutritional progress regularly.
- Maintain detailed documentation of consultations, plans, and compliance with league health and doping regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential with valid Texas licensing.
- Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a closely related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least 3–5 years of experience in nutrition roles within elite sports (professional or collegiate level preferred).
- Thorough understanding of performance nutrition, supplementation, recovery, and sports hydration.
- Proficiency using sports science technology for body composition and hydration monitoring.
- Past experience coordinating with chefs, caterers, and managing food logistics in sports settings.
