Position Overview

The Teacher role focuses on delivering high-quality vocational education and training across broad student groups. Responsibilities include outcome-oriented teaching, collaborative engagement with various educational and industry bodies, staying current with industry standards, and participating in continuous improvement efforts. The role is a full-time temporary appointment for 12 months, primarily located at the Mooloolaba campus, with the possibility of work at other campuses.

Key Duties

• Exhibit proficient teaching skills aligned with student-centered practices.
• Lead dynamic teaching and learning in classroom, workplace, simulated, and digital environments, emphasizing student engagement and advancement.
• Employ flexible, blended, and inclusive teaching methods tailored to diverse students, including beginners and priority groups.
• Create and administer assessment tools compatible with industry skill standards and accredited national training packages.
• Engage actively in ongoing quality enhancement initiatives regarding training and assessment.
• Build constructive relationships with students, partners, and colleagues, contributing through meetings, reference groups, and student forums.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and sustainability practices in training settings.
• Assist in the creation, review, and implementation of vocational programs.
• Participate in professional development to maintain and update industry and educational expertise.
• Handle administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, student support facilitation, and provision of feedback and guidance.
• Support organizational transformation by exemplifying core values including Safety First, Collaboration, Customer Focus, Accountability, and Initiative.

Candidate Assessment Criteria

• Possess proficiency in national training packages and accredited courses to foster competency and meet evolving industry and individual requirements.
• Exhibit expertise in managing teaching activities incorporating industry-relevant, adaptive, and technology-supported learning solutions.
• Demonstrate initiative, self-direction, teamwork aptitude, sustainable practices, and competence in managing change effectively through strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commit to continuous self-improvement with regard to maintaining up-to-date skills in industry standards, teaching methodologies, and educational technologies including Learning Management Systems.
• Intimate knowledge of safe, fair, and non-discriminatory work environments, delivering inclusive and high-quality student experiences.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

• Competency in vocational skills at or above those taught and assessed.
• Possession of one of the following qualifications:
  • CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work; or
  • CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health;
• Holds one of the following training and assessment certifications:
  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or successor;
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
  • TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or successor;
  • TAE50111 or TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training;
  • TAE50211 or TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development;
  • Secondary teaching qualification plus one of:
    • TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or successor;
    • TAESS00011 or TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or successor;
  • Higher-level qualification in adult or vocational education recognized by TAFE Queensland.
• Current relevant industry skills to support training and assessment delivery.
• Current vocational training and learning knowledge to inform program delivery.
• Evidence of recent professional development in vocational training, assessment, and competency-based education.

Highly Preferred Attributes

• Strong digital literacy with proficiency across multiple online Learning Management Systems.

Additional Information

This is a temporary full-time employment opportunity for 12 months, primarily based at the Mooloolaba campus with potential duties at other campuses.

Proof of qualifications and relevant industry experience will be required during the interview process.
