Role Overview
As the Teacher in Charge for Biology, you will serve as the subject expert and assist the Head of Department by ensuring consistent, high-quality educational experiences across various learning modes. Your responsibilities include teaching, mentoring colleagues, and managing course content aligned with Pearson Edexcel International GCSE and A-Level standards. You will report to the Principal or Head of Department and teach 20 out of 22 class periods weekly, with 2 periods allocated for subject leadership activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver class lessons and individual tutoring in biology.
- Design and execute lesson plans strictly adhering to Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and A-Level specifications.
- Maintain and update the course materials, lesson plans, and resources on the Learning Management System.
- Assist the Head of Department with quality control activities such as learning walks and standardisation processes.
- Mentor and support new and existing biology teachers, aiding in their professional development.
- Participate in curriculum evaluation, assessment design, and preparation for examinations.
- Contribute to post-exam reviews, implement interventions, and monitor student progress.
- Promote the integration of digital teaching methods and encourage best practice sharing among staff.
- Foster student engagement through facilitating competitions and biology clubs.

- Qualified teacher with substantial knowledge and expertise in biology.
- Well-versed in Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and A-Level curricula, examiners’ reports, and marking guidelines.
- Adept at using digital platforms for remote and online teaching.
