Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver insightful and practical tax advice to a wide spectrum of clients, including high net worth individuals, family trusts, private businesses, corporates, and multinationals.
- Manage your own portfolio of clients and nurture these business relationships effectively.
- Conduct preparation and review of technical compliance activities such as tax effect accounting, IFRS tax note disclosures, and tax returns.
- Mentor Associates by supporting their professional development and fostering a positive team culture.
- Identify potential risk areas and opportunities for sustainable tax planning throughout the tax lifecycle.
- Oversee and coordinate multiple projects at once, ensuring accuracy, timely delivery, and excellent client satisfaction.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Commerce, Accounting, and/or Law degree.
- A minimum of three to four years in a tax-related role within Big 4, second-tier firms, in-house teams, or law firms, with thorough knowledge of New Zealand taxation.
- Competency in tax effect accounting, tax note disclosures, and handling annual compliance.
- Strong grasp of accounting principles and ability to analyze financial statements.
- Proficiency with Xero (XPM), Microsoft Excel, and data analytics tools; experience with TaxLab is advantageous.
- Willingness to be based in or relocate to Hawke's Bay.
- Analytical mindset, attention to detail, proactive approach with strong ownership of tasks.
