Role overview
An established and expanding law firm in Surrey is looking to add a Tax Lawyer to its team. The role is being recruited for through a specialized hiring agency that supports legal, accounting, and corporate placements.

The client is a long-running full-service law firm serving the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley for 50 years. It works with both corporate and individual clients, focusing on tailored legal solutions, strong service quality, and respectful, community-minded relationships.
Responsibilities
- Manage tax-related matters and file work end to end.
- Move files forward efficiently and complete them within expected timelines.
- Show genuine interest and enthusiasm for tax work.
- Build client relationships and maintain a strong service mindset.
- Carry out thorough due diligence to gather all information needed for each file.
- Develop productive relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Take time to understand client goals and work toward the most suitable outcome.
- Be comfortable contributing to business development efforts.
- Represent clients professionally and close matters promptly.
- Keep communication open with clients before, throughout, and after file intake.
- Follow all applicable legal and ethical obligations.
Requirements
- At least 5 to 6 years of experience in tax planning, or 3 years of experience as a tax litigation lawyer.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Well-developed organizational and project management abilities.
- Sound judgment and the capacity to see situations from the client’s point of view.
- A commitment to delivering excellent client service.
- Ability to handle files from start to finish.
- Current member of the B.C. Bar and in good standing.
- Comfortable giving direction and delegating work when needed.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is $135,000 to $180,000, along with bonuses. Benefits are provided after the probation period.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Surrey, British Columbia.
