About the Role

This position is for a System Engineer specializing in protection systems and substation automation, located primarily in Gurugram with options for Mumbai or Bangalore locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Protection Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Trip matrices, interlocking logic in line with customer specifications.
  • Design Control and Protection Panels for various voltage level systems, understanding different bus configurations.
  • Create control and protection schematics for equipment including generators, lines, transformers, reactors, and busbars.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of Substation Automation Systems (SAS), SCADA applications, communication protocols, and integration of Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) from vendors like Siemens, GE, ALSTOM.
  • Prepare documentation for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), General Test Procedures (GTP), Technical Test Reports (TTR), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and heat load analyses.
  • Generate Control Relay Protection (CRP) interfacing drawings and develop system architectures based on project requirements.
  • Understand serial and Ethernet-based communication protocols used in SAS.
  • Apply knowledge of Master-Slave and Client-Server architectures, IEC 61850 standard, and computer networking, including topologies such as Ring, High-availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR), and Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP).
  • Engage with customers for drawing approvals and resolving technical queries.
  • Coordinate with factories for procurement, fabrication, and wiring of scope-related systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to sales, testing, and commissioning teams.
  • Prepare and validate Bills of Material (BOM), General Arrangements (GA), and schematic diagrams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.Tech/B.E.) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • 4 to 8 years of professional experience related to protection system engineering and substation automation.
  • Proficient interpersonal, negotiation, and communication abilities.
  • Quick learner capable of working independently or collaboratively within teams.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with E Base software is an added advantage.

Work Conditions and Location

  • Five working days per week with hybrid work arrangements depending on business needs.
  • Preferred work locations prioritized as Gurugram (Haryana), Mumbai (Maharashtra), and Bangalore (Karnataka).
