Job description
Role overview
Emirates Flight Training is a forward-looking training environment that uses Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) across its courses and is among the limited number of worldwide operators using Evidence Based Training (EBT). The department places strong emphasis on ongoing development and standardisation so that team members stay aligned with current training practices and the high standards expected by Emirates.
As the airline continues to expand, it is looking for seasoned aviation specialists to join its Flight Training team in a non-flying, ground-based capacity as a Synthetic Flight Examiner (SFE). The role centres on evaluating pilot proficiency through Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs) and carrying out ground-based assessments in accordance with GCAA requirements and Emirates standards.
Key duties
- Run regulatory and company-required proficiency checks, skill tests, and assessments in FSTDs, following GCAA rules and Emirates training procedures.
- Assess pilot performance during recurrent, type rating, recency, and upgrade training, maintaining objectivity and consistency against set standards.
- Prepare and submit accurate exam documentation and assessment records through the electronic reporting platform within the required timeframes.
- Spot performance shortfalls and advise on corrective or extra training needed to maintain safety and competency benchmarks.
- Share detailed observations with training leadership on performance patterns, recurring concerns, and opportunities to improve teaching methods and training outcomes.
- Contribute to training programme updates, course evaluation activities, and other team initiatives related to simulator and ground-based pilot assessment.
Qualifications and experience
Candidates should hold, or previously have held, one of the following licences: CPL, MPL, or ATPL.
A minimum of 12 months of active examiner experience is required, along with at least 1,500 hours of flight time as a pilot on a multi-pilot aeroplane.
Strong communication and leadership abilities are also essential for success in this position.
Salary and benefits
The role offers an annual basic salary of up to AED 423,360, equivalent to USD 115,265.
- Annual transport allowance of AED 24,180 (USD 6,580).
- Accommodation provided by the company, including utilities.
- Education support of AED 52,250 (USD 14,220) per year for primary schooling and AED 79,750 (USD 21,715) per year for secondary schooling, for up to three children.
- 42 calendar days of annual leave.
- Confirmed yearly leave tickets for the employee and dependents in Economy Class, with the option to upgrade to Business Class.
- Access to an Emirates Platinum card with retail, leisure, and service discounts.
- Reduced travel privileges for the employee and eligible dependents.
- Employer contribution to a provident/pension scheme.
- Comprehensive coverage for medical, life, and accident insurance, plus loss of medical licence insurance.
- Eligibility for an annual profit share depending on company performance.
