Role overview

An airport and commercial property organisation in Shannon, County Clare is hiring a Sustainability Data & ESG Reporting Lead to advance its sustainability and decarbonisation agenda. The business has a clear plan through 2030 that includes energy-saving upgrades, renewable energy projects, fleet electrification, water stewardship, waste minimisation, circular economy measures, and biodiversity improvements.

Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, this position will own sustainability data handling, emissions reporting, ESG tracking, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders. It is a hands-on opportunity to shape sustainability direction while supporting projects with measurable environmental impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Calculate, review, and track Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Oversee sustainability reporting obligations, including energy and carbon reporting structures and accreditation schemes.
  • Help produce annual sustainability reports and ESG disclosures.
  • Work with operational teams to monitor key metrics across energy, waste, water, biodiversity, and related sustainability areas.
  • Interpret sustainability data to spot patterns, risks, and areas where performance can improve.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and technical advisers.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including participation in sustainability committees and working groups.
  • Support engagement activities focused on reducing Scope 3 emissions.
  • Compile sustainability performance updates and KPI reports for senior management.
  • Create dashboards and visual reporting tools that clearly present ESG performance.
  • Assist with sustainability communications and awareness efforts for employees and outside audiences.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, data analysis, ESG reporting, or a closely related area.
  • A degree in Science, Engineering, Accountancy, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Postgraduate study in sustainability or a similar field is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and data management capability, with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or comparable tools.
  • Experience with carbon accounting or emissions footprinting methods is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with environmental management systems and certifications such as ISO 14001 or ISO 50001 is desirable.
  • Proven experience delivering complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholder groups.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with strong organisational ability.
