Job description

Role overview

Gaia Talent is seeking an Environmental Consultant to support environmental software solutions and managed services, including consultancy, project coordination, asset tagging, IoT, and related client integrations. The position involves working with clients from the first discussion through implementation, while also contributing to environmental assignments, regulatory work, and delivery support for senior team members.

The role is based in Cavan, Ireland, with a hybrid and flexible working arrangement for Ireland-based candidates. It includes site visits, report writing, and direct contact with clients and other stakeholders.

What you will do

  • Contribute to environmental projects from start to finish, including site investigations, data gathering, and risk assessment support.
  • Assist with environmental legislation, impact assessments such as EIAs, and related permitting work.
  • Help prepare environmental outputs such as EIARs, EIA Screening Reports, and Resource and Waste Management Plans.
  • Support communication with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
  • Work alongside senior consultants and take part in team learning and process improvement.
  • Assist with proposal drafting and client relationship activities.
  • Support compliance work and permit application processes.
  • Help with environmental, health, and safety compliance audits.
  • Attend client meetings and site visits across Ireland and the UK as required.

Qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the environmental sector.
  • Experience supporting environmental consultancy work.
  • Familiarity with environmental assessment and compliance processes.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIWEM, IEMA, or an equivalent organisation is preferred.

Additional requirements

  • Must be willing to travel to client locations when needed.
  • Should be comfortable working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
  • A full driving licence and eligibility to drive in Ireland are required.
