Job description
Role Overview
The Parks & Community Facilities department at Auckland Council is dedicated to ensuring community assets deliver exceptional experiences and outcomes while promoting sustainability and wellbeing. As a key member of the Planning & Reporting team, this role focuses on advancing sustainability efforts including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing energy and water efficiency, and minimizing waste.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage projects related to utility sustainability integration.
- Blend project management expertise with a commitment to sustainability goals.
- Collaborate effectively within a supportive and cooperative team environment.
- Perform business analysis to gather detailed data and reporting needs that drive sustainability initiatives.
- Work alongside stakeholders and end users to design and prototype Power BI dashboards and reporting tools (actual development is not required).
- Engage with Māori communities to develop and implement plans that uphold the principles of Kaitiakitanga in asset management and delivery.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of sustainability concepts as well as practical experience in utilities management, waste reduction, and energy optimization. Candidates should hold a degree in subjects such as sustainability, environmental management, science, or engineering.
- Strong technical knowledge of improving sustainability performance in property assets.
- Experience handling and interpreting large datasets for reporting purposes.
- Capable of developing strategic plans and managing cross-team programs.
- Familiarity with te ao Māori and its relationship to sustainability.
