Job description

Role Overview

The Sustainability Analyst position at Dangote Cement Plc (DCP) involves tracking, evaluating, and forecasting the environmental, social, governance (ESG), and climate metrics of the company’s operations on a corporate scale. This role delivers comprehensive sustainability performance reports and keeps abreast of industry trends to determine the impact of sustainability matters on the business.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally and with plant teams to set, implement, and monitor sustainability enhancement targets and track progress.
  • Investigate emerging ESG topics and partner with operational leaders to devise action plans.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement initiatives and prepare actionable reports on ESG key performance indicators.
  • Contribute to sustainability disclosures aligned with international frameworks such as IFRS S1 and S2, GRI, UNGC, and CDP.
  • Oversee the company’s decarbonisation program, including delivering training and ensuring compliance with reduction plans across plants.
  • Use carbon accounting and ESG management platforms to facilitate data gathering, verification, analysis, and timely ESG reporting.
  • Drive sustainability campaigns and ESG projects with tangible impacts.
  • Coordinate and support plant Sustainability Leads and champions to enhance their skills and achieve performance goals.
  • Facilitate the adoption of sustainability policies and practices organization-wide through both internal and external training sessions and workshops.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • An advanced degree in a sustainability-related discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years in corporate sustainability roles within large enterprises, ideally manufacturing.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Word, and conducting research and data analysis.
  • At least three years of experience in sustainability reporting according to international standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and openness to diverse perspectives and innovative methods.
  • Over two years’ experience performing greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting.

  • Experience leading continuous improvement programs in industrial environments.

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing environmental and social performance frameworks in large, varied organizations.
  • Project management experience in sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  • Familiarity with global sustainability reporting standards and frameworks.
