Job Overview

We are seeking Surveillance Investigators to join our vibrant team. This role suits individuals with previous investigative experience who uphold honesty, independence, and possess a strong ambition to excel in a dynamic investigative environment. This position operates primarily on the road, including potential overnight assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out field surveillance by closely observing, tracking, and documenting subjects’ activities across various settings.
  • Conduct surveillance using both vehicle and foot methods, maintaining discretion and cover.
  • Plan and execute pre-surveillance strategies tailored to each case and location.
  • Gather investigative evidence via video recordings and detailed written reports.
  • Capture subject footage in diverse environments such as public areas, events, and workplaces.
  • Submit all investigative reports and video documentation within stipulated deadlines.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with team leads on positions, observations, and tactical approaches.
  • Utilize digital surveillance tools, including web-based technologies and specialized investigative software.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in representing Command Investigations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, legal, and ethical standards throughout surveillance activities.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Possession of required equipment: reliable vehicle with legal dark tint, smartphone, laptop with Microsoft Word, digital camcorder with date/time stamp and upload function, a covert camera, tripod or monopod, and SD cards as needed.
  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
  • High level of integrity, independence, and dependability.
  • Excellent judgment, strong situational awareness, and adaptability to variable environments.
  • Self-driven individuals capable of working independently while maintaining effective communication and discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities alongside professional conduct.
  • Age 21 or older with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Minimum educational requirement: high school diploma or equivalent; college degree is preferred.
  • Competency in uploading video and image files from cameras into electronic systems.
  • Must carry personal auto insurance with liability minimums of 100k/300k/100k.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, and overtime, and maintain reliable attendance.
  • Willingness to start shifts as early as 3:00 AM.
  • Completion of company employment application and any required pre-employment procedures.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to comprehend and recall instructions and guidelines.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 25 lbs (11.34 kg).
  • Capability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to input data using a traditional keyboard or numeric keypad.
  • Vision requirements including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Adeptness at hearing and distinguishing speech and environmental sounds.

Work Schedule and Compensation

The position does not follow a typical 9-to-5 schedule. Assignments vary by day of the week with frequent requirements for weekends, holidays, and overtime. Shift start times may be as early as 3 to 4 AM, commonly starting around 6 AM. Typical shifts last 8 hours but can extend to 12-16 hours.

This role offers a pay range of $20 to $25 per hour, depending on state regulations. Hours and case assignments are not guaranteed but are distributed fairly. Schedules can offer flexibility with advanced notice.
