Role Overview
This role focuses on organizing surgical appointments for outpatients by coordinating closely with medical professionals and hospital departments to maximize operating room efficiency. It also involves ensuring the accuracy of patient data and surgical procedures documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with both healthcare staff and patients about surgery schedules and required preparations.
- Use hospital information systems to ensure accurate scheduling and data recording.
- Monitor operating room block usage, adjust schedules as necessary for any changes or cancellations, and inform all relevant team members accordingly.
- Confirm patient's insurance eligibility, benefits coverage, and secure necessary authorizations and referrals.
- Complete and distribute finalized surgical schedules with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Keep comprehensive records of surgery bookings and assist with administrative functions such as data entry and creating reports.
- Engage in collaborative team efforts and provide guidance to new team members.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Educational background equivalent to a high school diploma; technical training is advantageous.
- A minimum of two years' experience in a healthcare setting, clinical or administrative, ideally including surgical scheduling exposure.
- Excellent communication skills combined with strong organizational and data handling capabilities.
- Competence in modifying schedules efficiently and ensuring adherence to insurance and hospital regulations.
