Job description

Position Overview

Autism A Chara (formerly Autism Initiatives Ireland CLG) invites applications for a Support Worker role based in Arklow, County Wicklow. This part-time position involves working 39 hours weekly on a rota system that includes evenings, weekends, and waking night duties. The role requires driving service vehicles, therefore a full, clean Irish manual driver's license is mandatory. Permission to work in Ireland is also essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred support to individuals with complex needs, encouraging their daily living activities and personal care routines.
  • Engage with and support individuals within their communities, promoting skill development and independence.
  • Develop and implement programme plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Communicate effectively, adapting style as necessary to meet the unique requirements of each person supported.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Possession of a full QQI Level 5 major award in Health or Care sectors is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of the Key Worker/Support Worker role and philosophy supporting people with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Capability to work autonomously and on initiative.
  • Ability to drive manual vehicles as required for job duties.
