Corlann invites applications for Locum Relief Support Worker roles across its Rindoon Services locations in Athlone, Kilteevan, and Roscommon Town. Selected candidates may be assigned to a variety of settings including residential, respite, day services, community settings, or individual homes. The initial placement will be specific, but may change to meet future service demands.

Role Overview

The Support Worker is central to providing assistance and encouragement to individuals with intellectual disabilities, focusing on promoting independence and skill development. This includes supporting personal outcome achievement through individualized person-centred plans and facilitating engagement in everyday community activities with creative and inclusive approaches. Responsibilities include personal care aspects such as meals and hygiene, ensuring physical wellbeing throughout the day.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Applicants should have a solid general education; holding a recognized qualification in intellectual disability care or FETAC Level 5 (preferably QQI Level 5 or higher) is advantageous.
  • Experience with individuals who have intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviors is desirable, although comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Candidates must exhibit flexibility, excellent communication, strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, alongside patience and a good sense of humor.
  • Strong verbal and written communication proficiency in English is essential.
  • Competence in IT, including the use of computers, modern technology, online systems, and assistive technology is required.
  • Applicants must demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, confidentiality, and uphold current best practices.
  • A valid full clean manual driving license enables driving on Irish roads; access to a personal vehicle is mandatory. Obtaining a Class D1 Driving Licence may be needed, with support provided to acquire it if necessary.

Working Conditions

The position requires up to 39 hours per week across a 7-day and night duty roster. Shifts may involve early mornings, late evenings, weekends, public holidays, night duties, sleep-ins, and irregular schedules to fulfill service needs. Flexibility is vital to deliver high-quality personal outcome-based services.

Annual Leave and Remuneration

Annual leave is 23 days per year (pro-rated for part-time), equating to 8.46 hours per 100 hours worked. Salary is according to the Department of Health scales effective from June 1, 2026, ranging from €34,881 to €47,624 annually based on 11 increments (pro-rated for part-time). After 3 years at the scale maximum, a Long Service Increment of €48,434 applies. Additional remuneration is provided for weekend, public holiday, sleep-in, and night duties worked. Previous public sector service may count towards incremental credit.
