Job description

About the Position

As a Support Worker at Aruma, you will be a key contributor to empowering individuals with disabilities and young people by delivering personalized, compassionate care and assistance. Your efforts will enable their independence, promote their human rights, and foster community involvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide customized, high-quality support tailored to each individual's needs.
  • Assist with personal care routines, mobility, and development of daily living skills.
  • Establish meaningful relationships through mentorship and emotional support.
  • Encourage and facilitate involvement in community and recreational activities.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to execute support plans effectively.
  • Advocate for individuals' rights and help them gain greater autonomy.
  • Maintain safe, trauma-informed environments for young people with complex needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Prior experience in disability services, aged care, or family and community services.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification or readiness to obtain these qualifications.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • NDIS Worker Check clearance or willingness to acquire.
  • Excellent communication abilities, empathy, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Availability and flexibility to work varied hours including day shifts, overnight stays, weekends, and public holidays.
