About the role
This is a permanent part-time support worker position based in Gore, Southland. The roster includes morning, afternoon, sleepover, and weekend shifts. The pay range is $24.68 to $30.13 per hour, with the exact rate depending on relevant qualifications.
What you will do
In this role, you will support people with intellectual disabilities to live well at home and participate in their communities. The job is hands-on, rewarding, and gives you the chance to be creative in making each day meaningful for the people you support.
- Help people build everyday life skills such as using public transport and preparing meals.
- Assist with personal care and daily routines, including showering, dressing, and taking medication.
- Encourage individuals to pursue their personal interests, hobbies, and goals.
- Support healthy choices and overall wellbeing.
- Help strengthen connections with whānau and the wider community.
What you need to bring
No previous experience in the health and disability sector is required. A positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn are highly valued, and full training and orientation will be provided.
- Availability for flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepover duties.
- Confidence using computers and tablets on a daily basis.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- Physical fitness to provide hands-on support where needed.
- A full New Zealand driver licence.
