Role summary
An opportunity is available for a motivated Support Worker to join the Adult Respite Services team at Ard Na Mara, Ladybridge, Ballyhimkin, Cork. The post supports person-centred services for children and adults with disabilities as part of a committed and innovative team.
Contract details
This role may be offered on a permanent, temporary, or relief basis. Working arrangements can include full-time, part-time, or variable hours.
Pay and leave
The salary scale is €35,070 to €42,440 per annum, pro rata. This pay scale is expected to increase in 2026 in line with the recent WRC agreement on enhanced pay adjustments for Section 39 organisations. Annual leave is 30 days per year pro rata, with proportionately reduced leave for employees with less than 12 months of service.
What the role involves
The position focuses on delivering person-centred support within Adult Respite Services for people with disabilities. A full job description is available for the complete list of duties.
Essential requirements
- A QQI Level 5 Major Award (8 modules) in Healthcare Support, Social Care, Pre Nursing, Disability Care Skills, Childcare, or another health-related area.
- Candidates who have completed 3 modules may still apply, provided they give a written commitment to complete the remaining modules within 12 months of the start date.
- An SNA qualification is also acceptable.
- Alternatively, applicants may have completed Year 1 of a relevant degree in Health and Social Care, such as Social Care, Child Care, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or Speech and Language Therapy.
- A full clean manual driving licence is required, along with a willingness to drive company vehicles.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the State.
Desirable experience
- Prior experience supporting people with disabilities.
- Experience working with individuals who display behaviours of concern.
- Previous involvement in personal care.
- Basic IT competence.
